      DIRECT, PURPOSEFUL EXPERIENCE

Direct experiences are those that we encounter in our daily life and that we learn out from it. We can learn best about something by doing it ourselves. We need first hand experiences in order for us to understand it clearly. It is not just talking merely about observing, seeing or hearing it, it is rather than we, ourselves experience it. We cannot just improve overnight, but we can improve by practicing it and experiencing it ourselves. For instance, in the classroom setting, students may learn if they are told to listen in a recorded speech. They may learn out from it. However, student will learn best if they are told to deliver the speech by themselves. Aside from hearing themselves delivering the speech, they will be able to hear it whether it is pleasing to the listener or not. And from that they will learn the best strategies they must use to make their speech effective.

These direct experiences are referred to as purposeful in a sense that they are undergone in relation to a purpose- LEARNING. They are experiences that are internalize in the sense that these experiences involve the asking of questions that have significance in the life of the person undergoing the direct experiences.

As teachers, we dont just let our students having this direct experience just for fun, but instead we are letting them discover things and in turn they would have knowledge as to what they have been through. These learning will be always in their long term memory because they have experience it themselves.

Lets make our students understand the lesson and that they will learn best by doing it personally...

 Using and Evaluating Instructional Materials

We need to have instructional materials inorder to teach the students effectively. To ensure effective use, we should use it well, using the acronym PPPF
P- PREPARE YOUR SELF. Know your objectives and what you expect from the class after the session and why you have selected such instructional materials.
P-PREPARE YOUR STUDENTS.set class expectations and learning goals. Motivate them and keep them interested and engage that they will be very energetic and participative in your lessons.
P-PRESENT THE MATERIAL. Using diff. instructional materials for the students to understand more of your lessons.
F-FOLLOW UP. Find out wether your objectives are met and your goals are carried out as planned and expected

 The Cone of Experience

Everyone of us has many experiences in our lives. everyday we met many people, discover many things, making mistakes but learning out from it.It has been said that the older the person, the more experienced he'd become, which I believe its true.

Every learners differ the way he learns depending upon his experiences, his behavior and values and many more factors. The cone of experiences stand for experiences that are fluid, extensive, and continually interact.

Experiences is very important to the students learning because we learn out from it right? that's the best  learning we had.wed will grow be mature enough  to face life's realities.
These are the bands of experience in Dale's Cone of Experience:
*Direct purposeful experience- first hand experience which serve as the foundation of our learning. It is learning by doing. students are considered as the makers of their own larning
*Contrived experience- we make use of representative models or mocks up reality for practical reasons.
*dramatized experiences- we can participate in a reconstructed experience
*Demonstration- It is showing how things are done
*Study trips- EXsurtions and visits conducted to observe an event that is unavailable inside the classroom.
*exhibits- display to be seen by spectators
*Television and motion pictures- can reconstruct the reality pf the past so effectively yhat we are made to feel that we are there

The farther we go from the bottom of the cone, the more abstract the experiences become

 Systematic Approach to Teaching

It is the students who are the focus of systematic instructional planning. Teachers must have objectives that will serve as their guide in teaching the students. that in the end of the program students will improve and the objectives are met. teachers must know their students need inorder for them to use the appropriate teaching strtategies that would help in the development of the students.

when the teachers already know their students need, they will be able to identify what teaching strategies must be use effectively. With the use of technology it would be a lot easier for them to teach the students and facilitate their own learning.
